Hey Friends,
This is a Konkani folktale translated into English. Hope you enjoy it.
Miss Mosquito
Miss mosquito was very beautiful but she was very lonely. Moreover she did not have anybody to take care of her. So one day she dressed herself in her best silk sari, lined her eyes with kajal, darkened her eyebrows, reddened her lips, adorned her tresses with sweet smelling jasmine flowers and she did look very pretty. She set out to look for someone who was willing to look after her needs.
On the way she met Mr. Dog. “Where are you going Miss Mosquito?” Asked Mr. Dog
“I am on the lookout for somebody who would be willing to feed me. Would you please look after me Mr. Dog?” She asked.
“So Miss. Mosquito went forward and met Mr. Ox who was working out in the field. She called out to him.
“Hey! There, Mr. Ox, you look very strong and handsome! Would you please look after me and feed me?”
Mr. Ox looked at pretty Miss. Mosquito and shook his head.
“Sorry Miss. Mosquito. I have lots of work in the fields. I have to plough and I have to turn the water wheel. I have to pull the cart and take my master to the market. I can’t look after you at all.”
Miss. Mosquito said goodbye to Mr. Ox and went forward again.
Mrs. Cat who was sleeping under a tree looked up at her and called out.
“Hellow, Miss. Mosquito come here and rest for a while. You look very tired. Where were you going?”
“Mrs. Cat, would you please feed me? I’m all alone and would like someone to look after me.” Said Miss. Mosquito
“Sorrrrrryy Miss. Mosquito, I’m very busy all the time. At night I’ve to catch mice from my master’s barn and I also have my kittens to look after. I can’t feed you at all.” Mrs. Cat closed her eyes again.
Miss. Mosquito then met Mrs. Cow.
“Mrs. Cow! Would you be kind enough to look after a poor miss mosquito?” She asked.
Mrs. Cow was very busy. She had to look after her calf and then she had to go and give milk for her master. So, she shook her head and miss mosquito went away very sad.
Then she came upon Mrs. Hen and very hopefully asked her. “Mrs. Hen Mrs. Hen, would you look after me? I am very hungry!”
Mrs. Hen clucked and shook her head. “I have to lay eggs for my master and then I have to look after my chicks. I don’t have time to look after you.”
So Miss. Mosquito sorrowfully left. And then she saw Mr. Man sitting outside his house. She was very happy to see him.
“Mr. Man you look very handsome and lonely. Can I come and stay with you? I could be a real friend to you and you can look after me, a poor lonely miss mosquito!” she batted her eyelashes at him.
Seeing the pretty miss mosquito looking very forlorn Mr. Man said “Let me see now, what jobs do I have to do? I have Mr. Dog to guard the house. I have Mr. Ox to work in the fields. I have Mrs. Cow to give me milk and Mrs. Hen to give me eggs. I also have a Mrs. Cat to catch mice. So I don’t have anything to do at all. And you look so tiny; I won’t have to do much to feed you. Yes! You can live with me.”
So it was that Miss mosquito came to stay with Mr. Man.

Since it’s almost 2008, I was just recollecting some memories of the past year while I thought this up! The poem’s called “If”. Weird name huh?
If
If life was just like my dream
Of eating yummy strawberry cream
So delicious it would really seem
With raining chocolate as in my dream
If nightmares were real
I would surely squeal
‘Cause there are vampires at my heel
Trying to catch me for their meal
If I was a billionaire
I’d have everything and never have to share
My servants and maids would take great care
(of my dolls and toys, and especially my hair)
If I was a poor kid,
Whose toy was just a plastic lid,
I would sit and dream to get rid
Of my poverty- That I had got for nothing I did

Hi Again… Check out this new poem I just wrote.
Weirdo
Peering through all windows,
Driving away all little doves
And getting into a big row
For he is nothing but a weirdo
Sometimes birds come and perch on him
While he fills his bottle up to the brim
And that in the morning is a very nice show
He loves the clapping so he never goes
He sits there all day
For he’s nothing but a weirdo
Once he peered into a house so big
Wearing a dirty old green wig
The butler saw him and got him to go
He had peered in for he is nothing but a weirdo.
Hope you enjoyed it

Hello
Do you love to notice expressions? I do.
Expressions
A face with a happy curve
A curve called a smile
That stares at you with twinkling eyes
And makes you return it twice
A face which is quite sad
About something we don’t realize
That stares at you with tearful eyes
And makes you feel you’ll cry
A face which is quite scared
We think it’s fake and we glare
It stares at you with frightened eyes
And makes you feel you’ve not been fair
A face with an annoyed expression
Is same all over the season
It stares at you with glaring eyes
And makes you feel you’ll never dare.
A face which shows absolute hatred
Never believes in what we created
It glares at you with hateful eyes
And makes you feel very sad
A face which is as plain as ever
What the expression is, it’s tough to say
Staring at you with beady eyes
Makes you feel it’s wearing a disguise
Many types of expressions are there
Happy, sad, scared or plain
Anger, love and hate can be seen
But I like to see a curve on your face
A curve that is called a smile

Hi,
I love books. here is a poem about them.
Books
To write we have books
And books to read
Books for cooks
And books of seeds
Books to make
And some to take
Books to share
And some are in pairs
Full of stories
And full of colours
Full of imagination
And some about nations
Books are a boon
But I like them with a spoon
‘Cause I love to read
While I eat.
hope you enjoyed it.

Hello,
It’s raining cats and dogs and taxi cabs right now. I hate it when it rains. So, I wrote a poem…It’s got a nice rhythm.
Rains can be a pain
Rains can be a pain
When it really floods the lane
And sometimes it hails
That hurts all creatures including snails

Hi,
Sorry I couldn’t blog for a few days. I was so engrossed in eating bananas.
Bananas
Bananas are as yellow as ever
Banana-boiled is sweet and rich in flavor
Banana chips are so crisp and crunchy
Banana roasted is so very munchy

Hai, would you like to read another poem by me? Then here it is.
Poor old me!
I was free out in the wild
When I met a little child
The child called his father
Who came and caught me, o bother!

Hello! Here is one more poem by me
Plight
Oh no! It’s the veggie’s plight
When they are plucked to make us a tasty delight
And taken are baskets to the big markets
And sold to satisfy our appetites

Hai, here is another poem about the beautiful beach.
At the beach
Let’s go out to the beach for a walk
And collect seashells while we talk
The hot sand and the waves in between
Makes even an old man feel like a teen
